Thirty hours of discovery.
Thirty minutes.

A four-month brand sprint for a legal-discovery AI platform used by Latham & Watkins, Colorado ADC, HMF, and RMW. Brand and Webflow build by Lake Austin Design — November 2024 to February 2025.

The brief
November 2024
Matey.ai turns thirty hours of discovery into thirty minutes.
Built for litigation work that used to take weeks.

The clients were already serious. Latham & Watkins. Colorado ADC. HMF. RMW.

The work was serious. The brand wasn't.
The audit
November 2024
Microsoft Clarity ran across the existing site for the first month. Heatmaps. Scroll maps. Click density. The data answered the question that nobody had asked out loud: where were prospects actually clicking? Forty-two percent of homepage clicks landed on the Team page. The redesign brief wrote itself.
"Working with Lake Austin Design felt like having a true creative partner embedded in our engineering-led team. They brought thoughtfulness, design discipline, and brand storytelling that elevated our product and public presence. Their deep research into design principles was inspiring!"
-Jared White, CEO Matey.ai
The mark
December 2024
Sail + paperwork + AI. The sail references the partnership — discovery work as a crew, not a vendor. The paperwork is the legal documents. The AI sparkle is the moment of the find. One mark. Three ideas. Everything Matey does, in a shape.

Everything Matey does, in a shape.

"Lake Austin guided us through a complete rebrand, redesigned our website and product experience, and consistently pushed us to focus on clarity, structure, and a visual language that matched the elegance of our tech."

Deputy Director, Matey customer

The system
December 2024
Type: serious. Palette: tight. Grid: Swiss. A system that holds up under scrutiny — the same scrutiny Matey's customers apply to every document they review. Built so the brand and the product spoke with the same voice.

"For any startup looking for a partner who can translate the soul of a product into a beautiful, conversion-driven experience — Lake Austin Design delivers."

The brief, in one line.

The team page
January 2025
The data said the Team page was the highest-intent destination. We redesigned it as the centerpiece, not the afterthought. Bios written for trust. Photography that matched the seriousness of the roster. The page that lawyers visited became the page that closed lawyers.

Forty-two percent of clicks went to one page. So we redesigned around that page.

The build
January 2025
CMS within Webflow. Mobile-first. Swiss grid. Built so the team could ship content without an engineer in the loop. Built to scale to the next tier of clients without a rebuild.

Built so the team could ship without an engineer in the loop.

From weeks to minutes.

Documents. Video. Audio. Witness statements. Emails. Texts. Anything.

The launch
February 2025
Site shipped February 2025. Brand live across the platform, the marketing site, the sales materials, the investor deck. One identity, end to end. Four months from kickoff to launch.
The roster
February 2025
🚀 launch & go!
Top-tier law and litigation, in four logos, on one page. The roster did the work — the brand finally held it the way a roster like that deserves.

“The AI found facts we didn't know existed, which led to a murder charge being dropped.” — Public Defender, Matey customer

The work
Today
The work stands on its own. A legal-discovery platform that looks like the work it does. A four-month sprint that produced a system built to last.

"More than designers, they are true brand architects. Thank you!!"

Jared White, CEO, Matey.ai
